Signs of infestation

Rats or mice seen during the daytime, a sign of a serious problem
Partially eaten fruit and other foodstuffs
Gnawing on doorways, food packets and containers
Noises in your ceiling

How we treat them

01
Inspection
We assess the problem, including possible access points and any necessary removal of nests or dead rodents.
02
Ceiling treatment
A loose-bait solid and/or liquid treatment in the ceiling or other required area, which normally lasts about 3 months.
03
Bait boxes
Tamper-proof rodent bait boxes, mounted against paving or a wall, hold the bait safely away from kids and pets.
04
Flexible placement
Boxes can be moved should a problem arise in a different area of the property.

An average suburban house needs 6 to 8 rodent bait boxes; half-acre and bigger stands need more, depending on the surrounds and garden. Bait boxes are not needed inside the ceiling, as kids and pets cannot reach it. Rodents normally die out of sight, back at a nesting area.

For commercial premises we install tamper-proof rodent bait boxes plus scatter-bait or paste applications. Knockdown and environmentally friendly options are available.

OWL-FRIENDLY OPTION
Multi-feed bait lowers the risk to owls

Rats have to eat a multi-feed bait more often to be affected, which lessens the risk for an owl that catches an affected rat.

Rat & mouse control questions

We have noises in our ceiling. Do we need rat boxes in the ceiling?

No. Kids and pets cannot reach the ceiling area. We inspect to assess the problem, including possible access points and any necessary removal of nests or dead rodents, plus a loose-bait solid and/or liquid treatment that normally lasts about 3 months.

How many rodent bait boxes does my house need?

An average suburban house needs 6 to 8 rodent bait boxes. Half-acre and bigger stands need more, depending on the surrounds and type of garden.

We are worried about poisoning the owls in the area.

In a suburban area it is very difficult for owls to catch rats. We can supply a multi-feed bait, which means rats have to eat more often to be affected. This lessens the risk for an owl that catches an affected rat.

I am worried about my dog eating a poisoned rat.

Most dogs only play with a dead or dying rat and then lose interest. A dog would have to eat a number of rats at one time to be severely affected.

Will rats die in my ceiling and smell?

The bait makes rodents thirsty, so they go out to look for water. They normally die out of sight, back at a nesting area.

How quick is the effect of the bait?

The treatment, in the roof or in the bait boxes, is not immediate. It takes 3 to 5 days for activity to stop.

How are the rodent bait boxes installed?

They are mounted against paving or a wall, or on a paving block for stability, which gives flexibility should there be a problem in a different area of the property later.
